The public had long been guessing whether Kate Middleton was wearing a wig after fighting cancer. Moreover, the color of her hair had also changed.
At an event at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Kate appeared in a stunning emerald-velvet dress. Behind the stage of the Royal Variety Performance, actress Sue Pollard could not hold back a compliment: “I like your hair, it looks much lighter.” In response, Middleton answered with a slight smile: “Earlier it was brown, but it became lighter in the sun.”
The public first noticed the honey-brown shade of the princess’s hair on September 4, when she visited the restored gardens of the Natural History Museum in London. At that time, many assumed that the color change was connected to the effects of treatment, since in January 2025 Kate had announced remission after fighting cancer. However, now it has become clear that it is not about a wig, but about a deliberate experiment with her appearance.
Royal hairdresser Neville Tucker, who had worked with Queen Elizabeth II, told Vanity Fair that Kate’s hair had gained a fully bright look. The expert emphasized that the new style differs significantly from her usual one: “Kate chose a bold look… This makes the transition more dramatic. I would say she has become the blondest among anyone we have seen.” Tucker predicts that the bright honey highlights in the princess’s hair will set a trend, and more and more people will want to copy this hairstyle.
However, Kate’s light-haired period did not last long. In a photo from the Women’s Rugby World Cup taken on September 6, her hair again looked darker, although the golden shade remained.
