
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum.
The event was attended by about 300 heads and representatives of leading companies of the two countries. From the Pakistani side, "Al-Rafique Enterprises," "Mehran Dates Products," "Brighto Chemicals," "Transfopower Industries," "FWO," "T.M.C," "Pakistan Mobile," "TCS" and many other companies participated.
In his speech, the Head of State noted that during today's fruitful negotiations, issues of further expanding multifaceted partnership were discussed in detail, and major plans and tasks were identified. It was agreed to establish a High-Level Strategic Partnership Council.
Trade and economic cooperation was identified as the "locomotive" of bilateral relations.
- Our economies, which have great potential, are able to complement each other, - said Mirziyoyev.

According to the results of last year, the volume of trade turnover exceeded 400 million dollars, 130 joint ventures are operating. In this regard, Uzbekistan has become Pakistan's largest trading partner in Central Asia.
In recent years, measures have been actively implemented to create favorable conditions for business. Air traffic with Lahore has been restored, it is planned to increase the number of flights and expand the geography of flights. Business forums, industrial exhibitions are being held. Trading houses have been established in the cities of Karachi and Tashkent.
Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation is being enriched with new projects. Projects are being implemented with companies such as "Pak Merit", "Diamond Group", "Silk-way", "Getz Pharm", "Herbion", "NLS" and others.
The Head of State put forward a number of proposals to further expand bilateral cooperation. First, the importance of regularly holding business events with a wide involvement of business representatives in Uzbekistan and Pakistan at least twice a year was emphasized.
Taking into account geographical proximity, the need to sharply increase the volume of trade turnover was highlighted, including expanding the nomenclature of goods within the framework of the existing Agreement on Preferential Trade, simplifying phytosanitary, quarantine and customs procedures, and improving interbank settlement mechanisms was emphasized. Particular attention is paid to the integration of electronic trading platforms.
Transport and logistics capabilities are expanding. In recent years, the volume of cargo transportation between the countries has increased 5 times. In order to expand cooperation in this area, it is planned to establish a joint transport and logistics company.
It was noted with satisfaction that the construction of a railway connecting China with Central Asia has begun. In the future, this strategic route may lead to the ports of Pakistan, which will significantly increase mutual trade and investment.
The rapid development of industrial cooperation is in the fundamental interests of the countries. These include projects in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, geology, mining, electrical engineering, textiles, leather and other sectors.
The need to effectively use the potential of interregional cooperation was emphasized. In this regard, the importance of intensifying mutual visits of regional leaders and widely involving business circles of the two countries was noted.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in turn, highly appreciated the large-scale reform program being implemented under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the conditions created for doing business, and noted that there are great opportunities for expanding partnership.
