
On March 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaia Kallas. Issues of expanding practical cooperation and preparing for future joint events were considered.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed to the head of our state greetings and best wishes from the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Particular attention was paid to the holding of the first "Central Asia - European Union" summit in the city of Samarkand on April 3-4 of this year. The fruitful results of the multilateral ministerial meeting held today in Ashgabat were highly appreciated.
The importance of promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions in trade and logistics, including realizing the potential of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, digitalization, "green" energy, ecology, infrastructure modernization and other priority areas, and introducing effective mechanisms for implementing initiatives and projects were noted.
Issues of further deepening Uzbekistan's relations with EU institutions were considered.
Issues of adopting a new Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and our country's accession to the World Trade Organization were discussed.
