On October 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who headed a high-level delegation of leading Saudi company executives visiting Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Khalid Al-Falih conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
During the discussion, both sides reviewed the prospects for further deepening multifaceted cooperation, ensuring the implementation of top-level agreements, and expanding partnership in new directions.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have been developing at an unprecedented pace in recent years. Cooperation in all areas has reached a new level: trade turnover is growing, direct investments are increasing, and the number of joint ventures is rising. Air connections between the two countries have also expanded.
It was noted that the current portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $27 billion, with $15 billion of that amount attributed to major energy projects implemented jointly with “ACWA Power.”
The recent sessions of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council held in Tashkent produced significant outcomes, with new agreements and contracts signed, giving a fresh boost to bilateral business ties.
Special attention was paid to the rapid implementation of projects in green energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, real estate, and infrastructure.
President Mirziyoyev stressed the need to elevate cooperation with Saudi Arabia to a strategic level, not limited to the economic sphere. The Saudi delegation, in turn, expressed great interest in Uzbekistan’s open and stable investment climate, pace of reforms, and regionally significant projects.
Thus, the Tashkent meeting opened a new chapter in bilateral cooperation — built on mutual trust and benefit, with billions of dollars’ worth of promising projects expected to materialize.
