Vedomosti.ru podcast revealed that the Russian government is planning to reform the social benefits system for 2026. These changes will not only cover pensions but also allowances for children, financial aid for low-income families, and other social services.
According to financial plans, pensions are expected to increase by approximately 10–12%. This adjustment aims to offset inflation and maintain the real income of the population. Additionally, the amounts of child care allowances will also be reviewed.
Under the new system, the assessment of beneficiaries' financial conditions will be automated. This initiative is designed to ensure the fair distribution of assistance. Payments are planned to be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank cards.
Experts emphasize that this approach will enable faster and more accurate support to those genuinely in need. However, issues such as bureaucracy, technical malfunctions, and outdated databases still pose challenges.
Spending on the social sector has significantly increased in the 2026 budget. This highlights the government's recognition of improving social welfare as a key priority.
