Norwegian scientists have revealed unexpected and somewhat alarming information for representatives of the stronger half of humanity.
According to the research results, brain size naturally decreases as a person ages. However, this process is significantly more intense in men than in women. It is noted that a man's brain "dies out" almost twice as fast as a woman's.
Are video games a salvation for the brain?
But there is no need to worry, as specialists have found a way to stop and even reverse this process. Interestingly, it's not some expensive medication that helps with this, but video games that many consider useless.
According to scientists, computer and video games constantly keep the brain active. In particular, the following genres sharpen cognitive abilities:
- Strategies (planning and logical thinking);
- Sports simulators (reaction and concentration);
Action (shooter) games (quick decision-making).
Researchers note that regularly (moderately) playing video games can slow down the brain's aging process by up to 10 years. So, the time spent in front of your favorite game serves not only as rest but also as a kind of "exercise" for the brain.
