Seven people were arrested for opening more than 200 groups on the Telegram social network called "Alisher Usmanov Action" and deceiving citizens with words like "You won a prize of 20 million soums in the action" and embezzling funds.
According to official information provided by the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs, a 25-year-old resident of the city of Ahangaran (Sh.B.) opened and operated more than 200 groups on Telegram under the name "Alisher Usmanov Action" at his home, attracting 6 people aged 18-25 living in the Fergana region.
The group sent false information to citizens about winnings, demanded a ransom to receive the winnings, and embezzled various amounts of money by transferring them to bank cards in the names of other individuals.
During the event, 4 computers, 11 phones, Wi-Fi devices, and various bank cards were seized from the apartment as evidence.
According to preliminary investigations, each member of this group was assigned a separate task. One person prepared fake checks and controlled the groups, while another was engaged in distributing advertisements and recruiting people to the groups.
Also, another person performed the task of communicating with citizens, while another was engaged in cashing daily cash receipts through ATMs.
A criminal case was initiated against the persons detained in this case under Article 168, Part 3, Paragraph "g" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Preliminary investigations are underway.
