
The SNG.Today public website published an article titled "The share of "green" energy in Uzbekistan will be increased to 26 percent." The publication details the meeting held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the draft state program "Environmental Protection and "Green" Economy".
The article states that over the past three years, 16 large solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 3.5 gigawatts have been commissioned, 35 small hydroelectric power plants have been built, and more than 60,000 homes have been equipped with solar panels. Trees are being planted and parks are being created as part of the national program "Green Space".
"In 2025, the country plans to increase the share of "green" energy in the energy system from the current 16% to 26%. To this end, 16 large solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 3.5 gigawatts, 5 large hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 160 megawatts, and 1.8 gigawatts of energy storage capacity will be commissioned," writes "SNG.Today".
It is noted that the head of Uzbekistan gave instructions to form additional projects with a capacity of 1 gigawatt. "In addition, the promotion of installation of solar panels in state enterprises, industrial and service complexes, and apartments will be continued. For this, 2 trillion soums of credit will be allocated," the article says.
