On April 5 in Tashkent, a Malibu driver, moving at high speed, dragged a traffic patrol (DPS) officer on the hood of his car. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, according to the Road Traffic Safety Department (RTSD).

The incident occurred at the intersection of Nukus and A. Qahhor streets in the Mirabad district. The driver was operating a Malibu-2 vehicle with license plates deliberately removed and equipped with a special antenna and siren, driving at high speed and endangering his own life as well as the lives of others.

Furthermore, he repeatedly ignored the signals from traffic officers to stop. Despite seeing a junior sergeant approaching, the driver did not stop and instead hit him with the car, then continued driving along Nukus Street with the officer dragged on the "hood".

The traffic police officer was provided with first aid by doctors for his injuries.

The driver of the car stated that he was unemployed and had rented the vehicle. "I was young, I thought [the DPS officer] would fall off the hood," the driver said.

Following the incident, the Mirabad district prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case under Article 219 of the Criminal Code (resisting a representative of authority or a person fulfilling a civic duty). Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.

All drivers are urged to follow established traffic rules.
