
The next joint meeting of the government delegations of the two countries on the issues of delimitation and demarcation of the state border was held in Tashkent, led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchibek Toshiev.
During these high-level negotiations, an important agreement was reached on the last unresolved section of the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In particular, a protocol on the passage of the project line along the remaining section of the state border was approved, and the main terms of the draft agreement on the joint use of the Chashma spring were agreed between the governments of the two states.
Representatives of the two countries emphasized that the Chashma spring is a common natural resource of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It was agreed that citizens of Uzbekistan will have full and unhindered use of this spring. It was noted that the Uzbek side will own two-thirds of the spring, and any work that could change the volume and quality of its water resources must be agreed in advance with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the parties, adhering to the principles of friendship and good neighborliness, undertook to refrain from any actions that would interfere with the full use of the Chashma spring by the peoples of the two countries.
Representatives of the two sides also reached a clear agreement on the full coordination and signing of the agreement on the joint use of the Chashma spring and the agreement on the state border section in a short time.
These agreements are considered a practical result of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries and mutual understanding and agreements in resolving important issues in the lives of the people. This was an important historical event that served to further improve relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and to strengthen stability and peace in the border regions.
