Over the past fifteen years, the total number of people who moved from Uzbekistan to live abroad for permanent residence has exceeded 405 thousand people. This figure reached its highest level in 2010, when 44,420 people left the country that year. A year later, in 2011, this figure increased further and reached 50,816 people.
After that, the number of people who moved abroad gradually decreased:
- in 2016 - 28,069 people;
- in 2017 - 20,772 people;
- in 2018 – 19,006 people;
- in 2019 – 13,229 people;
- in 2020 – 13,648 people;
- in 2023 – 17,336 people;
- in 2024 – 10,842 people.
The majority of those who moved abroad last year – 81.1 percent – went to Kazakhstan, and 14.8 percent – to Russia. This indicates that Kazakhstan has a significant advantage in the choice of countries.
According to experts, the reasons for the decrease in the number of emigrants include factors such as the stabilization of the economic situation in Uzbekistan, the improvement of the living standards of the population, and the emergence of new opportunities in the country.
In general, the steady decrease in the number of emigrants in recent years can be noted as a positive trend. At the same time, for these indicators to further decrease, it is important to further improve the economic and social conditions in Uzbekistan, to create a favorable environment for work and life.
