Large amounts of subsidy funds were looted in Fergana: the "sewing machine" scam
A major corruption case involving the embezzlement of subsidy funds allocated from the state budget was exposed in the Department of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Population in Fergana city. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was revealed that employees of the Department of Poverty Reduction and Employment of Fergana city illegally embezzled subsidy funds worth 213 million soums through various fraudulent means.

In particular, during the investigation, it was revealed that fake documents were issued in the names of 29 citizens who were not actually unemployed and did not need subsidies, and 145 million soums of subsidies were unjustifiably allocated.

In addition, it was found that 34.2 million soums of subsidies were allocated to 8 more individuals without their knowledge and without any application, and these funds were embezzled.

The fraud situation has been further aggravated by the fact that fake documents were prepared in the names of some citizens, without their consent and knowledge, stating that they had received sewing machines on a subsidized basis. As a result, sewing machines worth 21 million soums were allocated from state funds and, in fact, were looted by other individuals.

A criminal case has been initiated in this case under Article 167, Part 3, Subsection "a" (fraud on a very large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Currently, investigative actions are ongoing and the participation of officials and other responsible persons in this crime is being thoroughly investigated.

The Prosecutor General's Office announced that additional details are being investigated in this case and additional information will be provided to the public based on the results of the investigation.

The Zamin.uz editorial office will monitor the development of the situation in this criminal case and bring further details to the attention of readers in a timely manner. Increasing public awareness is essential in preventing such cases and combating the illegal appropriation of budget funds.
