The terrible tragedy that occurred in the Parkent district shocked the entire community. The death of three minors in a pond caused great concern and grief in society. The Prosecutor General's Office issued an official statement on the incident and clarified all the circumstances.
As it turned out, there was an artificial pond with a depth of about 2 meters and an area of 20x40 meters in the "Parkentsoy" canal where the children drowned. Unfortunately, it was found that no prohibitory signs were installed in this dangerous area, no safety education was carried out among the population, and no measures were taken to eliminate such an artificial pond.
The prosecutor's office acknowledged that such a sad situation occurred as a result of the negligence and failure of the competent authorities to properly fulfill their duties. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 116 (Failure to perform professional duties) and Article 207 (Negligence in the performance of official duties) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Pre-investigation investigation activities are ongoing - all circumstances, the role of each responsible person and how they performed their official duties will be thoroughly studied. After all necessary investigative actions are carried out, a legal decision will be made on the case.
This tragedy once again drew the attention of the public and competent authorities to the need to strictly observe safety rules at water bodies, strengthen explanatory work among the population, and install prohibitory signs on artificial reservoirs. Safety and human life are the highest values. The competent organizations are required to take practical measures to prevent such situations in the future.
