
A fire that broke out in Surkhandarya region caused serious concern among the public and official agencies. Yesterday, June 17, at around 17:45, dry grass caught fire near the “Kengdala” forest area in Boysun district. Shortly thereafter, the fire began to spread over a wider area.
According to the official statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, regional fire and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and, with the help of special equipment and volunteers, began to contain the fire.
The fire over 3 hectares was fully extinguished
Notably, the fire was completely extinguished at 07:10 on June 18. The operation involved 85 MES personnel, 4 units of special equipment, 40 employees from the forestry department and 4 machines, as well as 6 police officers and 20 servicemen from the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, a helicopter and drones from the border services were deployed. These helped identify areas where the fire could spread and enabled quick response measures.
Quick response protected a large area
To prevent the fire from spreading to a larger area, local residents also mobilized. Thanks to the assistance of about 40 volunteers, the scale of the fire was contained and limited.
A representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the causes of the fire are currently being investigated and additional information will be provided based on the results.
No casualties, no reason for concern
It was announced that there were no injured or fatalities during the incident. This is seen as a result of high-level cooperation and rapid action.
