A fine was imposed for a fake gynecologist profile in Tashkent
On Friday, July 11, the courts of Tashkent made a decision in a case related to spreading false information on the internet. A 29-year-old capital city resident, B. Sh., was brought before the court. He is accused of creating a fake profile of a gynecologist doctor on the popular messenger Telegram and providing paid consultations, reports UPL.uz.

According to the court case materials, this incident occurred at the end of June 2025. B. Sh. opened an account on Telegram fully impersonating practicing gynecologist D. S. He put the doctor’s real photo and name on his profile, trying to give it a credible appearance. Through this fake account, he communicated with women seeking medical help, presented himself as a doctor, and gave incorrect, paid advice.

During the court proceedings, B. Sh. fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions. He asked the court to consider this as a mitigating factor.

The injured party — doctor D. S. — stated in his complaint that the defendant spread false information in his name, that this information often did not correspond to the field of gynecology, and that this caused significant damage to his professional reputation. He demanded that the court take legal measures against B. Sh.

All evidence was reviewed and testimonies of the parties were heard. The court found B. Sh. guilty and sentenced him under Article 202-2, Part 1 of the Administrative Liability Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — "Spreading false information." As a penalty, he was fined 50 base calculation units, which currently amounts to 18.7 million soms.

As telemedicine and online consultations become more popular in Uzbekistan, cases of deceiving patients through fake doctor profiles called "medical catfishing" are increasing. Law enforcement agencies recommend specialists verify contact information through official clinic websites and avoid transferring payments to personal cards. We get news from the Zamin.uz website.
