Fire severely damages house and shop in Kibray
In the Qibray district a residential house and a building‑materials retail point were engulfed in flames at the same time. The incident occurred unexpectedly on a hot summer day, fvv.uz reported.

On 23 July at approximately 10:50 a call reached the emergency service dispatchers. The call came from Alisher Navoi Street in the “G‘.G‘ulom” mahalla. The report said the roof of a house had caught fire and smoke was rising from the adjacent construction materials shop.

As soon as the signal was received, fire‑rescue units were dispatched. A total of five crews moved out. They arrived at the location at 10:57.

Rescuers first began moving people to a safe distance. It was noted there was a risk of the fire spreading to neighboring yards. Nearby areas were checked for gas cylinders.

According to protocol, water lines were laid (adjusted). Because the air temperature was high, the flames spread quickly. Fire‑suppressing foam was also applied.

At 11:17 it was reported that the fire had been contained. At this stage the main body of open flame was limited. However, smoldering pockets remained inside.

The on‑site command post tightened control. A separate team was assigned to each sector. An additional water‑supply truck was called in.

At 11:50 the fire was officially reported fully extinguished. Overhaul monitoring continued. Heat sources were checked with a thermal imager.

No official reports of people with bodily injuries were received. That was the biggest relief. Neighbors are also unharmed.

Several residents and shop staff were evacuated in time. They were temporarily accommodated in the local meeting hall. Psychological support was offered.

The cause of the fire is now under study. A preliminary assumption is that there may have been an electrical short circuit. But this has not yet been confirmed; fact unverified.

Another version points to a spark from cans of paint‑and‑varnish materials stored in the shop’s warehouse. Neighbors say some of them had heated strongly in the sun; fact unverified. Experts are taking samples.

The amount of material damage is being calculated. The ceiling section and roof structure of the house were seriously damaged. It is said the warehouse portion of the shop was almost completely burned.

The shop owner is preparing an inventory list. An insurance company has been engaged. A full assessment will be announced later.

According to available information, part of the home’s interior furnishings was saved. With neighbors’ help the main documents were removed. This reduced major losses.

During the fire some citizens helped with buckets of water. They tried to slow the spread before the crews arrived. Gratitude was expressed.

Emergency workers cordoned off the hazardous area. Curious children were urged not to go inside. It was explained that staying in a high‑temperature zone is dangerous to health.

At present community volunteers are cleaning around the shop. Burned panels are being collected separately. Charred lumber is being taken to a waste site.

Power‑supply specialists shut off the line and re‑inspected it. Reconnection will occur only after the expert report is published. Installing a temporary generator is under consideration.

Water pipes were also inspected. A risk of leakage was found because plastic joints may have melted from the heat. A request has been sent to a repair brigade.

Neighborhood youth are taking turns standing night watch at the incident site. Entry of curious visitors from afar is being restricted. Safety comes first.

Emergency services gave residents preventive advice. They reminded everyone to unplug unused electrical appliances. Long extension cords can impose excessive load, it was noted.

Rooms used to store construction materials should not have flammable substances piled in one spot. Providing ventilation is important. Temperature control must be strengthened in hot days.

Containers of fuel and paint/varnish that ignite easily should be kept in the shade. Metal trays (pans) can be placed underneath. Lids must be tightly closed.
