Husband strangles wife to death in Samarkand

Another shocking and heart‑wrenching incident in Samarkand region caught public attention. In Oqdaryo district, a man is suspected of brutally strangling his 28‑year‑old wife.

According to reports, the woman had lived with her husband for seven years and was raising two children. However, their family life was neither peaceful nor stable.

The victim’s mother stated that her daughter was repeatedly subjected to humiliation, beatings, and insults by her husband and even his relatives. The mother urged her daughter to return to her parents’ home, but she refused divorce and chose to endure.

The conflicts stemmed not only from misunderstandings between husband and wife but also from pressure and mistreatment by his family. The woman suffered both psychological and physical abuse—and ultimately lost her life.

According to additional sources, the man had previously been administratively detained for disturbing public order—serving 15 days in custody. Their family had been listed as a “troubled family” in the neighbourhood, but was later removed from the list for unknown reasons.

On the day of the tragedy, another argument escalated unexpectedly. The suspect strangled his wife and she was found dead.

A criminal case has been launched under Article 97, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan—premeditated murder. The suspect has been arrested and investigatory proceedings are ongoing.

After the tragedy, the public voiced concerns that warning signs were present earlier but authorities or neighbours failed to act. This underscores how without proper intervention, terrible consequences can occur.

Social media users reacted strongly. Discussions have reignited about women’s safety, strict measures against domestic violence, and the effectiveness of the judicial system.

Such cases can be prevented not only by laws but also through a conscientious and compassionate societal approach. This tragic incident highlights the need for robust protection and community involvement.

The deceased’s children are now left without their mother, victims of violent cruelty. For them, the impact is both familial and communal.

Investigation continues. The public awaits justice and hopes that every participant in the tragedy will be held accountable.
