In Andijan, investigative actions have been initiated by law enforcement agencies regarding an incident that has caused pain and reflection in our society.
On August 4, a video recording of the incident spread on social media, drawing strong criticism from the public. The Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs issued an official statement regarding the matter.
In the video, a middle-aged man is seen behaving inappropriately and uncontrollably, using offensive language towards children in a pharmacy, and ultimately raising his hand against a teenage boy.
According to reports, the incident occurred on July 26 around 21:10 in a pharmacy located in the Bobur neighborhood on Fitrat Street in Andijan city. A citizen born in 1977 initially joked with an underage girl in the pharmacy. However, the situation then escalated, leading to a verbal argument with a teenage boy who was also present. During this, the man insulted the boy and slapped him across the face.
The most distressing part is that the victim and his parents did not file a complaint with law enforcement about the incident. This has sparked justified outrage among many. It is emphasized that such incidents, if allowed to pass in silence, may set a dangerous precedent in society.
Currently, the Andijan City Police Department is conducting pre-investigation actions against the man in order to take appropriate legal measures.
Furthermore, legal experts emphasize that even in the absence of a formal complaint from the victim, criminal proceedings can be initiated based on video evidence.
Children’s safety and dignity must be a top priority in our society. If violence against children happens in public, in front of everyone, and is left unaddressed, how can we speak with confidence about the future?
