The murder that occurred in Surkhandarya region became one of those cases that made society reflect and shook many people.
According to information shared by MY5, behind this case stands a man deeply addicted to gambling. From 2021 to 2024, he repeatedly borrowed money from his friend — a woman with whom he was closely acquainted. The total debt reached around 20 million soums, and he had promised to pay it back with 10 percent interest per month. However, instead of repaying the debt, the man, having spent temporary earnings on gambling, chose the path of murder.
According to the reports, in March 2025, he called the woman late at night, saying he was going to return the money. The woman, trusting and unsuspecting, came outside — only to fall into a deadly trap.
The man forcibly put her in the car and took her to a remote desert area. There, he forced her to transfer more than 20 million soums to his bank card. As if that wasn’t enough, he stabbed her multiple times and brutally killed her.
After committing the crime, the killer buried the body in a sandy area and disappeared. But one cannot escape the law. Law enforcement found him and brought him to justice.
During the trial, he admitted his guilt. He asked forgiveness from the victim’s relatives and expressed deep remorse for what he had done. However, the court handed down a strict sentence — 18.5 years of imprisonment.
This case is not just a crime, but also a clear example of how problems in society — such as gambling addiction, financial illiteracy, and abuse of trust — can lead to horrific consequences.
Every debt is a responsibility, every trust is a duty. By betraying the trust given by the woman, this man destroyed her life through violence, and in doing so, shattered the trust of an entire family and society.
To prevent such incidents from happening again, society needs conscious thinking, legal protection, and psychological solutions. We must not forget the value of human life and must remain intolerant of any violations of law.
