A new and modern payment practice will be introduced in Uzbekistan’s labor market. According to the Presidential decree dated August 12, 2025, in order to create convenience for individual entrepreneurs and self-employed persons, a daily wage payment procedure called “on the same day” will be implemented.
The new system will be applied experimentally for the payment of labor for certain employees. To use this opportunity, an electronic labor contract must be signed between the employer and the employee. In addition, the employee must have an electronic wallet on digital platforms.
Importantly, the calculation and payment of taxes and mandatory contributions will be under strict control. The mechanism is voluntary and does not exempt the employer from complying with other requirements of labor legislation.
According to the decree, the digital platform operator will provide payment instruments to pay salaries under the “on the same day” mechanism. Integration with government agencies’ information systems will play an important role in ensuring the full operation of the mechanism.
Experts note that such a practice will help pay workers’ wages promptly, especially for those engaged in temporary or shift work. At the same time, it will help increase transparency in the labor market and reduce illegal forms of employment.
The new procedure is considered the next step in the digitalization of labor relations. The daily wage payment system will simplify financial relations between the worker and the employer, ensuring fast and convenient payment.
