Uzbek woman who was cheated in Turkey returned safely

An Uzbek woman who believed promises of a high-paying job in Turkey but ended up in a difficult situation has been safely returned home. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

According to the information, the citizen from Samarkand region wanted to escape family conflicts and start a new life, so she traveled to Turkey. She trusted the promises of a man living in Istanbul, who presented himself on social media as a successful entrepreneur. He promised her a high-paid job that required neither qualifications nor knowledge of the language. However, the reality turned out to be different.

The woman was brought in without a work visa, her passport was taken away under the pretext of covering travel expenses, and attempts were made to force her to work in harsh conditions. To escape this situation, she turned to the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul for help.

The diplomatic mission, together with the Migration Agency’s office in Turkey, promptly took measures. As a result, the citizen was safely returned to Uzbekistan. At the same time, information about the person who tried to deceive her was handed over to the Turkish law enforcement authorities.

The Consulate General issued a serious warning to compatriots:
“Dear citizens! Do not believe in ‘easy money’ and false promises abroad. Such a dangerous path puts your life and health at risk. Value your loved ones and try to solve any problems only through legal means.”

This incident once again highlighted how dangerous human trafficking and false job offers abroad can be. Experts remind that any citizen wishing to work abroad must do so only through official agencies and legal procedures.
