The State Security Service conducted an operational event to combat corruption in government bodies.
It was reported that the khokim of Namangan city and the head of a limited liability company for the production of shoes colluded and demanded 60 thousand US dollars from a citizen who wants to engage in entrepreneurial activity in the field of construction in exchange for obtaining and financing the right to build a multi-storey house instead of obsolete residential buildings located on 35 acres of land in the city.
During the operational event, the head of the LLC was initially detained with material evidence while receiving the requested funds.
After that, the operation continued, and the mayor's illegal actions were stopped when he received $60,000 from the head of the LLC through another trusted person - the head of the administration's office.
Currently, the mayor of Namangan city has been deprived of parliamentary immunity, and the Investigative Department of the State Security Service's Namangan Regional Department has initiated criminal proceedings against him and the head of the office under Article 210, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code, and against the head of the LLC under Article 168, Part 4, Clause "a" and Article 28, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code.
A preventive measure of "imprisonment" was applied to the city mayor.
It is noted that within the framework of the investigation, a legal assessment will be given to other illegal actions of the khokim.
