In the Bulgarian city of Sozopol, the body of a 22-year-old Uzbek student who drowned, along with the bodies of five other citizens who died in Turkey for various reasons, was returned to the homeland. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.
The official statement emphasized that the matter was not limited only to the return of the bodies. The consulate also provided practical assistance to compatriots who found themselves in difficult situations in Turkey. In particular, 12 Uzbek citizens who had fallen into heavy debt during hospital treatment were granted special discounts, which made it possible for them to return to Uzbekistan.
In addition, it was reported that 27 citizens who had been left without documents were also assisted and the necessary documents were issued.
It should be recalled that on August 7 of this year, it was reported that a 22-year-old student, while swimming with friends in the city of Sozopol, was carried away by the current. Since then, the rescue service began searching for him. However, finding the body was not easy.
Only two days later, on August 9, was he discovered among large underwater rocks. According to information, his body was stuck between rocks, so rescuers could not retrieve it. Even with the use of special equipment and repeated efforts, there was no result.
Finally, after more than 9 hours of searching, the body of the student was found and pulled out not by rescuers, but by his friends — Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, and Moldovans.
This tragic incident shook not only our compatriots but also thousands of social media users. For his parents, however, this news was a heavy blow.
At present, the bodies returned to Uzbekistan have been handed over to the families of the deceased. The public emphasizes that in order to prevent such cases from happening again, young people studying abroad must strictly observe safety and precautionary measures.
