In the mountains of Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region, the life of a young Uzbek citizen was cut short. According to the regional Department of Emergency Situations, during a mountain trip he fell into a ravine and died from fatal injuries.
According to reports, on August 31, the rescue services received a message that two young men who had set off from Shymkent to the mountains had not returned. After this, search and rescue operations were urgently launched.
The search took place at an altitude of about 2200 meters above sea level, in the area of the Sayramsu peak, about 8 kilometers from the village of Kaskasu, within the Sayram-Ugam National Nature Park. Rescuers managed to establish voice contact with one of the tourists. According to him, the 29-year-old Uzbek fell into a ravine and died instantly.
Due to the difficult terrain and rocky area, the rescue helicopter could not approach the scene. Therefore, the rescuers continued on foot. As additional help, five experienced alpinists from the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation were brought from a base in Shymkent; they joined the rescuers to continue the search and organize the evacuation.
The alpinists, using special equipment, climbed the dangerous cliffs and found the surviving tourist as well as the body of the deceased. They were lowered with special gear. The survivor was evacuated to the foot of the mountain, where his relatives were waiting, while the deceased’s body was handed over to the police.
The rescue operation involved 18 personnel and five units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the police, the forestry service, as well as alpinists from the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and a KazAviaSpas helicopter.
Experts once again emphasized the need to strictly follow safety rules in the mountains. Even one minute of carelessness in nature can lead to tragic consequences for human life.
