One of the twin babies was kidnapped at a maternity hospital in Jizzakh region

In Jizzakh, a woman who committed fraud and kidnapping was sentenced. Kun.uz reviewed the court document.

According to the court verdict, 31-year-old Zaynabbibi Bobojonova, a resident of Sharof Rashidov district, gained the trust of a neighbor who wanted to adopt a child and promised to get her a baby from the maternity hospital. The woman obtained a total of 5,550,000 soums from her neighbor under various pretexts, such as pushing forward the queue for a child, processing documents, obtaining a health certificate, and others.

After that, on January 31, 2025, Zaynabbibi Bobojonova visited the maternity hospital in the Yoshlik neighborhood of Jizzakh city. She told her neighbor to take the baby and went to the maternity hospital.

In court, Zaynabbibi Bobojonova fully admitted her guilt, expressed remorse for her actions, and asked the court for leniency.

"My neighbor wanted to adopt a child because she didn't have children. On November 19, 2024, my neighbor and I visited the Mother and Child Screening Center in Jizzakh. I went inside myself and told my neighbor that it was the 36th queue to get a child, and if they paid $200, they could put it in the 10th queue and get the child on December 10, 2024. My neighbor deposited 2 million 550 thousand soums into the plastic card I mentioned.

Then I fraudulently took 550,000 soums from my neighbor for obtaining a health certificate for the child, 2 million soums for signing documents with guardianship staff in Tashkent, 350,000 soums for claiming the baby was sick and needed treatment, and 100,000 soums for taxis. I spoke with my neighbor on the phone as the head doctor of the maternity hospital about getting a baby.

On January 31, 2025, my neighbor called me and said that he had come to the maternity hospital in Jizzakh and said, "Let's take the baby out today." Again, I called the head doctor at a confidential number and said that the child could be taken away. "Around 3:00 PM that day, my neighbor arrived at the maternity hospital in a car with her husband and other relatives," the woman said in her court testimony.

After that, she first went to the head doctor of the maternity hospital and said that she wanted to have a baby. The chief physician explained to the woman that she should contact the guardianship council to adopt a child.

After Zaynabbibi Bobojonova left the chief physician's appointment, she heard from the doctors there that citizen Pokiza Hamroyeva had given birth to twins 3 days ago, and she is in ward 9. Then, after asking the nurses, he learned that the surveillance cameras in the building were not working. Zaynabbibi Bobojonova entered the 9th ward wearing a mask and asked, "Who is this woman who gave birth to twins?" The people in the room pointed to Pokiza Hamroyeva. Zaynabbibi introduced herself as a doctor's daughter, said she wanted to see a doctor for the babies, and left carrying one of the cows.

The woman took the baby out of the maternity hospital, handed it to a neighbor, and went home. The next day, her neighbor showed Zaynabbibi Bobojonova the news circulating on social media about the kidnapping of a baby from the maternity hospital. The woman called the police and said that she had brought the baby.

Thus, the child was returned to his mother. A criminal case has been initiated against Zaynabbibi, and she has been arrested.

By the verdict of the Jizzakh City Criminal Court, Zaynabbibi Bobojonova was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 168, Part 1 (fraud) and Article 137, Part 2, Clause "b" (kidnapping) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 5 years and 1 month of imprisonment. It is also planned to collect 5 million 550 thousand soums from him in favor of his neighbor.

By the ruling of the appellate instance of the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Jizzakh Regional Court, the preliminary court verdict was left unchanged.
