Part of the city left without electricity after a fire at a substation in Andijan

In the city of Andijan, a fire that broke out on the evening of October 8 temporarily left several parts of the city without electricity. It was reported that the incident occurred at the “Yoyilma” substation.

According to reports, the fire broke out at 6:32 p.m. The Regional Department of Emergency Situations received a message about a fire at a substation belonging to the Andijan Regional Electric Networks, caused by a short circuit in the electrical wires.

The fire was extinguished in 11 minutes

According to the Emergency Department, fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene just two minutes after the call — at 6:34 p.m. The rescuers acted promptly and managed to completely extinguish the fire in just 11 minutes.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. However, part of the substation’s equipment was damaged, which caused temporary power outages in some neighborhoods.

Causes and damage under investigation

A special commission is currently investigating the causes of the fire, technical factors, and the amount of material damage. Preliminary data indicate that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the electrical wires.

“At the moment, repair teams are taking all necessary measures. The main part of the power supply has been restored, and work continues in the remaining areas,” the press service of the “Andijan Regional Electric Networks” company reported.

Emergency services worked in coordination

According to the Emergency Department, the rapid containment of the fire was made possible by the coordinated efforts of rescuers, energy specialists, and local authorities. They acted quickly to ensure public safety, maintain order, and prevent panic.

Local residents and social media users also expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their prompt and professional response.

Energy safety control to be strengthened

Experts emphasize that such incidents highlight the need for regular preventive maintenance of the energy infrastructure. The issue of renewing old equipment and strengthening safety systems has once again become a priority.

Representatives of the energy sector stated that technical malfunctions at the “Yoyilma” substation will be resolved in the shortest possible time, and full power supply across the city will be restored within hours.

The incident once again reminded the public of the importance of energy safety and preventive maintenance — as a single short circuit can impact the life of an entire city.
