In the city of Samarkand, an unexpected road traffic accident was recorded yesterday, October 9. The cause of the incident was a service vehicle belonging to the Road Patrol Service (DPS). It is reported that the accident occurred on a busy road in the city center. This was stated by the press service of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, at approximately 14:15, a “Nexia-3” service vehicle driven by an inspector of the Patrol-Post Service Battalion of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs collided with the rear part of a “Damas” vehicle moving ahead.
As a result of failure to observe speed and distance, the first “Damas” crashed into another “Damas” and a “Lacetti” car in front of it. Consequently, within a short period, a chain collision involving four vehicles occurred on the road.
According to witnesses, the incident, which happened around two o’clock in the afternoon, temporarily stopped traffic. Patrol officers and medical teams quickly arrived at the scene.
The official report states that the DPS officer driving the “Nexia-3” and the “Damas” driver sustained minor injuries. Both underwent medical examinations, received outpatient treatment, and were released home.
It was confirmed that all the drivers involved in the accident were sober. Experts participating in the pre-investigation are currently providing legal assessments of each participant’s actions.
The Samarkand city prosecutor’s office has initiated a pre-investigation check into the incident. The degree of violation of traffic regulations by the DPS officer will be determined after the expert examination.
At the same time, the leadership of the Department of Internal Affairs has launched an internal review concerning service discipline and compliance with road safety rules. The incident sparked active discussions among the public — many emphasize that DPS officers themselves must strictly follow the rules of the road.
Experts note that such incidents should serve as an important lesson for all drivers. They stress that responsibility on the road must be shared equally by both citizens and law enforcement officers.
