Responsibility for selling prescription drugs without authorization to be tightened

At the meeting of the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party faction in the Legislative Chamber, one of the most pressing issues of the year — the illegal circulation of prescription drugs — was discussed. The draft law aimed at strengthening responsibility in this area sparked lively debate among the deputies.

The proposed law seeks to protect public health and reinforce order in the activities of pharmacies. It introduces amendments to the Criminal and Administrative Codes to toughen penalties for the illegal circulation of prescription medicines.

Faction members noted that in recent years, the illegal trade of strong-acting pharmaceuticals has become a worrying issue, posing risks to both morality and health. At the same time, they emphasized that merely increasing punishment will not solve the problem.

According to deputy Kozim Tojiyev, the growing illegal sale of “strong-acting medicines” is alarming. However, he stated that harsher penalties alone cannot stop this trend. Preventive measures and raising public legal awareness are also essential.

Faction leader Alisher Qodirov shared his view, stressing that doubling fines will not stop illegal pharmacy sales. He called for a stronger monitoring system, strict compliance with licensing requirements, and minimizing human factors in the process.

As emphasized during the meeting, the party’s election program identifies ensuring a healthy and active lifestyle and preserving the nation’s gene pool as top priorities. Therefore, strengthening discipline in healthcare is as important to the “Milliy Tiklanish” faction as education and upbringing.

After discussions, the draft law was supported by the deputies. If adopted, the new regulation is expected to tighten control over the circulation of medicines and significantly reduce illegal trade.

Thus, members of the faction took another important step toward protecting public health and ensuring transparency in the pharmaceutical market.
