The road accident that occurred in Fergana region caused public concern. On October 16, in the city of Margilan, three schoolchildren were injured after being hit by a car near a school, reported fergana.uz.
According to the Traffic Safety Department, a 27-year-old driver of a Nexia-1 car, while driving along Margilani Street, failed to yield to children crossing the road. As a result, the vehicle collided with them.
Witnesses said the children were returning from school. The crossing area was unregulated — there were no pedestrian signs or traffic lights. The driver continued driving without reducing speed.
As a result of the incident, one of the students was injured and hospitalized. Two others received medical assistance at the scene. According to medical workers, their condition is stable, but they remain under observation.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The degree of the driver’s fault and the speed at the time are being determined by a technical examination.
Margilan city traffic safety officers emphasized that roads near schools are considered especially dangerous. In the morning and afternoon, many children walk there as pedestrians. Therefore, drivers are urged to act responsibly, strictly observe speed limits, and prioritize children’s safety.
Residents and social media users reacted sharply to the incident. Many believe that pedestrian crossings should be marked and more traffic signs should be installed near schools.
Carelessness and haste on the roads often lead to tragic outcomes. This event once again reminds drivers — every movement on the road is linked to human life. A single moment of inattention can determine a child’s fate.
