A major traffic accident involving two Nexia cars and a KamAZ truck occurred in the Kokdala district of the Qashqadaryo region. According to the regional Traffic Safety Department, the incident took place on May 24 around 14:20 on the D-150 highway in the Karshi–Yettitom direction.
Videos circulating on social media show that the two Nexia cars were severely damaged, and the KamAZ truck overturned. According to official reports, one passenger from the Nexia-2 sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The other drivers and passengers reportedly did not suffer serious harm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by a Nexia driver attempting an improper overtaking maneuver. The incident is currently being processed by the Qashqadaryo Regional Department of Internal Affairs' Traffic Safety Division.
For reference, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the number of traffic accidents in the country decreased by 17.7 percent in the first four months of 2026. However, 31.4 percent of these accidents resulted in fatalities. Speeding remains the leading cause at 32.9 percent. Other major factors include ignoring traffic lights, failing to yield to pedestrians, and driver fatigue.
