In the Taylak district of the Samarkand region, a court verdict was announced regarding a tragic traffic accident.
According to the investigation materials, on June 21 around 19:00, the driver of a “Lacetti” car, exceeding the speed limit, hit a five-year-old child standing on the roadside in the Dustlik neighborhood and fled the scene.
The little girl died on the spot from severe injuries.
During the court hearing, the accused admitted that he was intoxicated, expressed remorse for his actions, asked forgiveness from the victim’s family, and requested the court to consider his poor financial situation as a mitigating circumstance.
The court took into account that the driver had previously committed crimes and, through his dangerous behavior, posed a threat to human life.
According to the verdict, he was sentenced to five years and six months in prison and, after serving his sentence, will be deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for two years.
Experts once again urge drivers not to drive under the influence of alcohol and to strictly follow traffic rules.
