A man who blackmailed a woman through social media was detained in Namangan. This was reported by the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, a resident of the Kasansay district used his phone to post videos on Instagram showing an unknown woman dancing, adding misleading captions. The woman, unhappy with this, asked him to delete the videos, but the man demanded 350,000 soums and sent his bank card number.
However, after receiving the money, he did not remove the videos. Instead, he changed the account name and reposted the same footage. The woman was forced to pay again.
Her husband later filed a complaint with the police. As a result of rapid actions, the man who attempted to extort money through blackmail was identified and detained.
A criminal case has been opened, and an investigation is underway. Law enforcement authorities urge citizens not to share personal information with strangers and to be cautious on social media.
