Employees of the State Security Service, together with partner agencies, conducted large-scale operations against drug trafficking in Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions.
In the Urgut district of the Samarkand region, a man born in 1998 attempted to smuggle 8.8 kg of opium through a detour from Tajikistan. He refused to comply with the demand of the State Security Service Border Troops to stop and attempted to flee, but was apprehended as a result of swift action. During the investigation, his accomplice was also identified and arrested.
In the Surkhandarya region, a person previously convicted of drug trafficking was again detained with "opium." 31 grams of substance were confiscated from him, and more than 1.4 kg of "opium" was seized from his accomplice as material evidence.
In the Gurlan district of the Khorezm region, a two-time convict was detained while attempting to sell 877 grams of hashish for $14,000. It turned out that these substances were also illegally imported from Tajikistan.
Currently, criminal proceedings have been initiated against all individuals, and a preventive measure of detention has been applied.
According to the State Security Service, these measures were an important step in the fight against the spread of drugs in the country.
