The first exhibition of the unique art project "Ship of Tolerance," created by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, which combines culture and children's creativity, took place in Samarkand. The event was organized at the initiative of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan and became an important cultural event not only for the country, but also for all of Central Asia.
The main idea of the project is to demonstrate peace, hope, and human solidarity through the hearts of the younger generation. The sail of the "Ship of Tolerance" consists of more than 1000 drawings by children of Uzbekistan, each of which expresses feelings of peace, friendship, and goodness in its own way. This sail was created as a symbol of the new generation's striving for a clean and peaceful world.
The XIV UNESCO Youth Forum was also held as part of the ceremony. The International Children's Concert, held within the framework of the forum, brought together young performers from Uzbekistan and abroad on one stage. Classical and national melodies performed by orchestras, ensembles, and choir groups made a great impression on the audience.
The main goal of the event was to strengthen intercultural friendship through creativity and dialogue, and to encourage young people to embrace the ideas of global solidarity and tolerance. The project initiators emphasize that promoting the ideas of peace and humanism through children's creative works is a very important mission for today's world.
The "Ship of Tolerance," first presented by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov in Egypt in 2005, has since been presented in more than 20 cities around the world. In each country, it is enriched with images of the children of that country, filled with new meaning and spirit. Thus, the project was recognized as a "living monument of peace and unity."
Through the exhibition in Samarkand, Uzbekistan also contributed to this international initiative. Every image painted by the children is filled not only with the harmony of colors, but also with emotions emanating from the heart. Among these paintings, there are many symbols of friendship, birds, the sun, and images depicting life together.
Representatives of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts emphasized that the "Ship of Tolerance" will allow the younger generation of Uzbekistan to express their dreams through creativity and broadcast them on a global scale. This project is not only a work of art, but also a practical manifestation of the idea of peace and mutual respect.
Thus, the "Ship of Tolerance," opened in Samarkand, will go down in history not only as an exhibition, but also as a universal call for children's dreams, peace, and friendship.
