The Tashkent city administration has approved new tariffs for centralized heat supply services. According to the new procedure, the cost of heating services provided to the capital's residents has been increased by 15 percent. The decision officially entered into force on October 27 and concerns services provided by Veolia Energy Tashkent.
According to the document of the khokimiyat, the new base tariff without VAT is set at 711,641 soums/Gcal. Heat supply for the population was set at 139,860 soums/Gcal, for budget organizations - 952,797 soums/Gcal, and for other wholesale service organizations - 342,296 soums/Gcal. These prices were previously approved by the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies on August 22.
Experts emphasize that the reason for the tariff increase is the increase in production and service costs, the rise in energy resource prices, and the need to modernize the system. Veolia Energy representatives stated that these changes are aimed at improving service quality for users and ensuring supply stability.
At the same time, the legal aspects of the decision also became the subject of discussion. According to the legislation, the population must be notified of the increase in utility prices through the mass media at least 15 days in advance. So far, no official comment has been made on how this process was carried out.
In recent years, the Tashkent city administration and Veolia Energy Tashkent have been implementing a number of projects to completely modernize the capital's heating system, introduce modern energy-saving technologies, and thus increase energy efficiency. However, some residents say that the new tariffs will significantly affect their monthly budget.
At the same time, experts note that the increase in tariffs will increase the efficiency of heat supply services, reduce accidents, and ensure uninterrupted service.
For now, the first settlements based on the new tariffs are expected to begin in November. Relevant agencies are considering preferential programs for social categories in order to provide economic protection to the population.
Thus, the cost of heat supply services in the capital has been officially increased, but how these changes will be implemented and how they will affect the population will become clear in the coming weeks.
