Two guys were punished after a false video about AIDS

A video circulating on social media recently, titled "HIV Patients Put Needles on Seats," has caused public concern. However, after inspections by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Tashkent, it turned out that this information is completely unfounded and fabricated.

As a result of the investigation, two young men who invented this video and distributed it on social networks were detained. While fully admitting their guilt, they said they did this to increase "likes" and views.

"My friend said, 'Let's make a video about AIDS.' I didn't think it would become so popular. I sincerely apologize to the people," said one of the video's authors.

The second guy said: "Seeing such a video on Instagram, we also made similar content. I did it for a 'view.' Now I am very sorry for what I did."

Commenting on this incident, the head of the department of the Tashkent City AIDS Center, Anvarbek Jabborov, noted that HIV infection can be transmitted only in three ways: through unprotected sexual contact, through non-sterile medical devices or syringes, as well as from a sick mother to a child.

"The claim that HIV can be transmitted through a chair or chair has absolutely no scientific basis. The virus quickly dies in the external environment. "Even if there is a possibility of infection through a blood-infected needle, if a citizen contacts the AIDS center within 2 to 72 hours, 100% prevention of the infection will be ensured," the specialist said.

The young men who committed the offense were brought to justice under Article 202-2 ("Dissemination of false information through the Internet") of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

According to this article, a person who disseminates false information to the public pays a fine of 50 to 100 times the basic calculated value. This can range from 20.6 million to 41.2 million soums.

Officials urged the population not to believe any sensational videos on the internet, not to spread unverified information, and not to cause unfounded concern among citizens.
