
In Andijan region, the former chairman of the Hanabad City Criminal Court, Yunusjon Egamberdiyev, has been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison, according to the press service of the Supreme Court.
According to reports, the 51-year-old Egamberdiyev was found guilty of committing crimes of “fraud” and “bribery.” Under the court’s verdict, he is also banned from working in state and law enforcement bodies for 2.5 years.
According to the investigation, in May 2025 Egamberdiyev was caught receiving 30,000 dollars from the mother of a convicted person, promising to reduce her son’s prison term. His actions were exposed by law enforcement officers.
For reference, between 2013 and 2018, Yunusjon Egamberdiyev worked as a judge of the Asaka District Criminal Court. Later, he was engaged in business and worked as a lawyer. In December 2024, he was appointed chairman of the Hanabad City Court, but was soon prosecuted, ending his career.
This incident once again highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the judicial system.
