Uzbeks will have the opportunity to see their 7th generation

In Uzbekistan, citizens will be able to study their family genealogy in even greater depth. During a meeting attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, an initiative was proposed to launch a new information system called “Shajara,” zamin.uz reported.

According to the presentation, the new platform will allow users to create their family tree, view information about birth, marriage, and death, as well as find distant relatives based on genetic data.

The meeting also discussed the problems of the archival system and the need for modernization. It was noted that about 16 million documents are stored in the country’s archives, including 1.3 million valuable and rare materials. It was highlighted that the documents of the Bukhara Emir’s kushbegi office and the Khiva Khanate chancery have been included in UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” register.

At the same time, the pace of digitizing documents remains very low — only about 2 percent per year. By 2030, it is planned to increase the digitization level of the archival fund to at least 60 percent and fully digitize particularly valuable and unique documents.

To achieve this, the integration of existing archival information systems into a Unified National Archival Information System is planned, as well as implementing RFID-based document tracking, online monitoring, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies for classification and recognition. District and city archive responsibilities will be transferred to regional archive administrations.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that systematic implementation of these updates will improve convenience for citizens and entrepreneurs and increase efficiency in these areas.
