An extremist who had been on the run for 25 years has been returned to Uzbekistan

As a result of long-term and complex operational measures carried out by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan in close cooperation with foreign special services, a person associated with international terrorist organizations, assessed as extremely dangerous, was finally returned to the country. This citizen was wanted for almost a quarter of a century - more than 25 years - and tried to completely disappear.

According to reports, the individual left Uzbekistan in 1999 and subsequently joined various international extremist groups in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria, participating in combat operations. It was reported that he supported radical ideas and identified "hijra" and "jihad" as the main goals.

In subsequent years, he secretly operated in various countries, using forged documents issued under another person's name. It was also reported that he was detained in one of the CIS countries and was quickly extradited to Uzbekistan.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against this citizen under a number of serious articles of the Criminal Code - 154 (hire), 155 (terrorism), 159 (encroachment on the constitutional order) and other articles, and an investigation is underway.

The relevant authorities emphasize that the rule of law in Uzbekistan is absolute, and responsibility for every crime committed, regardless of who it is, is inevitable. After the completion of the investigative actions, the fate of this person will be determined by a court verdict.

This situation once again demonstrated the country's firm and systematic position on security issues.
