
The State Security Service and the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan have prevented an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of synthetic narcotics from Russia. This was reported by Podrobno.uz.
The incident occurred at the "Navoi" border customs post in the Tashkent region. During the inspection of a Lada Largus vehicle that arrived via transit from Kazakhstan, law enforcement officers discovered a hidden compartment containing prohibited substances.
The vehicle was being driven by a resident of the Bukhara region, born in 2000. Inside the cargo section of the vehicle, within the gearbox of a "Gazelle" vehicle, five packages of mephedrone weighing a total of 2.3 kilograms were concealed.
During the rapid operation, it was revealed that the driver was involved in cargo transportation along the "Uzbekistan – Russia" route and was supposed to deliver this car part to a person residing in the Tashkent region, also born in 2000. The suspect was apprehended at the time of accepting the delivery.
A criminal case has been initiated against the two suspects under Article 246 (Smuggling) Part Two and Article 273 (Illegal manufacture, purchase, and storage of narcotics) Part Five of the Criminal Code. Both suspects have been detained.
