According to the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs, the person who stole the vehicle was detained. This was reported by upl.uzreports.
A resident of the Qorakamish 2/4 area in Olmazor district called 102 and said the alarm on his Gentra had gone off. When he looked out the window, he saw an unknown person get into the car and drive away from the scene at 23:40 (Tashkent time).
As a result of оператив search measures, the stolen Gentra was found damaged after a traffic accident. It was established that the driver collided with a Spark and fled the scene. Shortly afterward, he was located at one of the houses in Shaykhontohur district and detained.
During the inquiry, it was noted that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime and, intending to “go for a ride,” broke the rear door window of a nearby car and drove it away because the key had been left in the ignition. According to reports, he came to the capital two months ago looking for work and had been laying paving stones at a private house.
A criminal case was opened under the Criminal Code article “Vehicle theft (unlawful taking).” Under this article, the minimum penalty may be imprisonment from 5 to 10 years.
