The Central Bank of Uzbekistan published another analytical review on the state of the labor market for the third quarter of 2025. The report notes that economic activity persisted during this period, and the supply of vacancies continued to grow steadily. At the same time, nominal and real wages, as well as the volume of remittances, increased.
According to data collected from open sources, vacancies posted by business entities in the third quarter increased by 3.3% compared to the same period last year. The largest part of the announced jobs was in the trade sector, the share of which was 17.9%. Public catering (17.1%) and manufacturing (17.0%) remain among the most active sectors.
At the same time, a contradictory trend is observed in the expectations of entrepreneurs. Some enterprises have expressed their intention to increase jobs, while others are considering the possibility of reduction. In surveys of economic activity, the share of entrepreneurs planning to increase the number of jobs in the next three months averaged 33.9% in July-August. In September, under the influence of seasonal factors, this indicator decreased to 30.8%.
On the other hand, the share of respondents who indicated job cuts also increased significantly. If in the second quarter this indicator was 8.7 percent, then by the end of the third quarter it reached 12.7 percent. In particular, 16.4% of entrepreneurs working in the construction sector and 25.6% of respondents in the trade network indicated the possibility of job cuts.
According to experts, this situation reflects the process of natural re-balancing in the labor market. On the one hand, new jobs are being created in the economy, and on the other hand, the need for cost optimization in certain sectors is increasing. In general, the Central Bank's analysis shows that movements and changes continue in the labor market, and the situation remains stable for now.
