Due to the increased avalanche risk, vehicle traffic through the Kamchik Pass was temporarily suspended from 13:00 on February 12. This was reported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
It was reported that in order to ensure safety, the pass was temporarily closed, and additional information will be provided later about when it will reopen. That is, the exact time of the road opening has not yet been announced - the situation will be assessed depending on the weather and the level of danger.
Currently, specialists from relevant organizations, led by the minister, are carrying out large-scale preventive measures in the region. Such measures are usually aimed at preventing the uncontrolled movement of snow masses, controlling dangerous points and creating safe conditions for traffic.
In short, there is no option to “take it easy” here: Kamchik is a road that does not like jokes. The best decision is to follow the news from official sources, be sure to check before setting off, and if possible, postpone the trip for a later time. Life is one, and the pass will still be there tomorrow.
