Uzbekistan to restrict financial transactions for alimony debtors

Uzbekistan is set to introduce strict new measures against individuals who fail to pay child support. According to a recently signed presidential decree aimed at digitizing and improving the execution of court documents, alimony debtors will face significant limitations starting from May 1, 2026.

Under the new regulations, individuals with outstanding alimony debts will be subject to a series of restrictions until their financial obligations are completely resolved. The government plans to block these debtors from conducting specific large-scale financial transactions to ensure compliance with court orders.

Furthermore, the decree outlines that those who evade their child support responsibilities may lose access to various financial and credit services. The restrictions will also extend to certain public services, effectively limiting the daily administrative capabilities of debtors until they fully clear their alimony arrears. These measures are designed to protect the rights of children and ensure timely support payments.
