Legal assistance provided to women in Khorezm
In Uzbekistan's Khorezm region, legal assistance has been provided to women affected by violence and coercion, following a government decision on June 25, 2024. The initiative includes social, psychological, and legal support services, facilitated by the National Agency for Social Protection in collaboration with relevant ministries. A legal awareness event was organized at the regional center for the rehabilitation and adaptation of women, where legal experts offered advice on issues such as alimony and enforcement documents. During the open discussion, women were able to ask questions and receive detailed responses from legal professionals.
In accordance with Resolution No. 354 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 25, 2024, it is established that women who have been subjected to pressure and violence shall be provided with services including social, psychological, and legal counseling, as well as the provision of information.
In this regard, cooperation between the National Agency for Social Protection and relevant ministries and departments is considered essential.
Consequently, the Khorezm Regional Department of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau, in collaboration with the Khorezm Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Adaptation of Women under the regional branch of the National Agency for Social Protection, organized a legal awareness and advocacy event for victimized women at the center.
During the roundtable discussion, D. Atamuratova, a state enforcement officer from the Bureau's Urgench city department, and N. Khudayberganova, a state enforcement officer from the Urgench district department, provided legal explanations and advice to the women regarding alimony and other enforcement documents.
During the sincere and open dialogue, the women received detailed answers from legal experts to the questions concerning issues that were troubling them.
