The official event dedicated to this year's Club World Cup was held at the White House in Washington, D.C. During the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and US President Donald Trump presented the tournament's new main trophy.
The new format of the tournament will be the first major club championship to be hosted by the United States in 2025. The trophy prepared for the tournament is particularly noteworthy. The cup, which at first glance looks like a saucer, has a unique mechanism that changes shape with the help of a special key.
Presenting the trophy in the Oval Office, Trump and Infantino expressed their thoughts on the importance of the tournament. While Trump has said the United States is ready to host major soccer tournaments, Infantino said the new format of the competition will open up new opportunities for clubs around the world.
The Club World Cup will be held in several cities in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. The tournament will feature 32 clubs, who will compete for the title in a new format introduced by FIFA.
