The Kyrgyz Football Union has proposed to the North Korean Football Federation to hold the 2026 World Cup qualifying match scheduled for June 5 in Tashkent. This was announced by Alisher Nikimbayev, a member of the FIFA Organizing Committee.
North Korea, which is considered the official host of the match, cannot hold international matches in its country due to political circumstances. Therefore, they have the opportunity to organize this match at any neutral venue in Asia. The Kyrgyz side preferred to hold this match in Tashkent.
The Kyrgyz Football Union, justifying its proposal, points to Tashkent as the most suitable option for the match against Kyrgyzstan, since North Korea should hold the 10th round match in Tehran. The final decision on this proposal will be made by the North Korean Football Federation.
Currently, the Kyrgyz national team is in 5th place in Group A of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 6 points. They still have a chance to qualify for the 3rd round of the qualifiers. North Korea, on the other hand, is in last place in the group with 2 points.
Uzbekistan national team qualification plan
On this day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Uzbek national team will be visiting the UAE. On June 10, they will play a decisive match against Qatar in Tashkent. This match is also expected to be of great importance for the qualifying round.
Although an official decision on the venue of the match between North Korea and Kyrgyzstan is awaited, the possible match in Tashkent could be an interesting event for regional football fans. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
