In the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League, the reigning champions Real Madrid suffered a crushing defeat against Arsenal in London.
Two free kicks from Declan Rice and one from Mikel Merino gave the Gunners a 3-0 victory.
After the match, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed the reasons for the defeat.
- For an hour, everything was fine with my team. Then we paid the price for two violations of the rules of the game. We conceded two goals from free kicks.
Our enthusiasm faded in the rest of the game. This is a heavy defeat. Especially in the second half of the match, we could not do anything.
We could not play football. "The team was broken and couldn't respond to the situation. There was intensity in our actions until the goals," said Carlo Ancelotti.
The return leg of the tie will be held in Madrid on April 16. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
