Claudio Ranieri’s Roma close to setting new record alongside Eldor Shomurodov!
Under Claudio Ranieri's guidance, Roma has become one of the best-performing teams in Serie A in 2025. In the capital club's successes, the role of Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov deserves special attention.

In the 33rd round of Serie A, Roma hosted tough opponents Verona at the famous Olimpico stadium and secured a crucial 1-0 victory. Eldor Shomurodov scored the match-winning goal. Besides his goal, the Uzbek striker made considerable efforts in helping his team preserve the lead throughout the game.

Currently, Roma is achieving one of the best runs in its history — the team has gone 17 matches unbeaten. During this period, the "wolves" won 12 games and drew five. Their last defeat came on December 15, 2024, in an away match against Como.

This unbeaten run equals the club's longest unbeaten streak in the past decade, a record previously set under Luciano Spalletti in 2016, also lasting 17 matches. Should Roma avoid defeat in their next game against Inter, they will set a new club record.

Eldor Shomurodov has played a crucial role in this achievement. Since the start of the championship, the 29-year-old Uzbek forward has scored seven goals in total, significantly improving his performance in 2025. Shomurodov's goals have earned Roma seven valuable points, leading to victories over Monza (4:0), Verona (1:0), and a draw against Juventus (1:1).

Roma's head coach Claudio Ranieri commented on the team's success and its future:

"We are moving confidently towards our dream. I think my players are doing incredible things along this journey. But we have very tough matches coming up against Inter and Fiorentina. There's still a lot of work ahead to achieve good results.

One thing I can say for sure: I will leave the club at the end of the season. It's the right decision. Roma needs a new coach, and he will need time to adapt the team to his style. If I stay one more year, the club will lose an entire season, and I don't want that. I must make way for a new coach."

It's worth mentioning that Shomurodov nearly moved to Venezia during the winter transfer window, but Claudio Ranieri insisted on keeping the Uzbek forward due to his importance to the team.

Experts note that although Shomurodov doesn't score many goals, his contribution to the team's overall play and results is substantial. He has now become a key figure in Roma, and his future career continues to attract significant interest.
