Pedri: “Raphinha was the true hero of today’s Clásico!”

In matchweek 35 of the Spanish La Liga, FC Barcelona achieved a very intense and dramatic victory over their archrival Real Madrid with a score of 4–3. With this win, the Catalans increased their points lead over closest pursuer Real Madrid to 7 and took what could be considered a decisive step in the championship race.

After this dramatic match, Barcelona’s talented Spanish midfielder Pedri shared his thoughts with journalists, discussing the significance of the game and the team's psychological state.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect the match to be this intense and full of goals. In the opening minutes of the game, things didn’t go our way — our opponent quickly scored two goals and made the situation difficult. But throughout the season, we’ve shown resilience in similar situations and managed to change the outcome. Today’s match was one of those cases,” said Pedri.

The player emphasized that the team’s improved mentality and growing self-confidence were the main factors behind the victory:

“We’ve managed to come back many times this season. The team has mentally developed a lot, and the players have started to believe in themselves. That was the case again today. Our team is mentally strong and united. That’s why we’ve been able to win in difficult moments.”

Pedri recognized Brazilian midfielder Raphinha as the best player of the match and praised his impressive performance on the pitch:

“In my opinion, the true hero of today’s match was Raphinha. He not only scored a goal but also provided assists to his teammates, playing a decisive role in securing this win. Pedri also spoke about how the painful defeat against Inter in the Champions League semi-final affected the team:

“The loss to Inter in Milan was a serious and heavy blow for us. After that match, it was the main topic of discussion in the dressing room. But it also became a major lesson for us. We knew that beating Real Madrid today would bring us closer to the La Liga title. Now, in the next round against Espanyol, our goal is to win and finish the job.”

The young footballer also emphasized that victories in El Clásico should always be celebrated specially:
